No More Binky...

Well the time has come.... Dustin and I have always said that when Ko gets his first tooth, we will be saying bye bye to the binky. Yesterday morning we were sitting in sacrament meeting at our nephew's blessing and I was feeding Ko a nutrigrain bar, and I felt a tooth! The bottum one finally broke through, and one of his top teeth is going to poke through any minute!! So Kohen doesn't know it yet, but he is in for a rude awakening! As are his mom and dad!
So to all of you that have weaned your kids off the binky, we would love and appreciate any advice that you can give us to make this transition go as smoothly as possible!! Thanks!

Let me know how it goes... I need to get Boston off of his. I am hoping that once the new baby comes he will realize it is for babies and not 'big boys'

Margo still has a binki. I know she is to old, but she only gets it when she sleeps. I have heard the best thing to do is cut off the tip of the binki. Good luck!

It really wasn't that hard with Aspen. She didn't even cry for it the first night we put her to bed with out it. I would just start one step at a time like only when he sleeps then maybe only at night then not at all. Let me know how it goes.

Wyatt doesn't even miss his bink during the day. We did the transition like Dall and Jess did with Spin, he still has his during bed and naptime, but that needs to end soon too. I am nervous!

Brinley was attached to the binki, So I told her, "Brinley you are a big girl now, lets say bye bye to it" I then had her throw it in the garabage, and then she watched the garabage man take it away. When she asked for it again, I said, "Sorry the man took it away" and that was the end of that. She was about 14 months though.

That's a tough one...we are working on it. Pres gets hers in the car seat and nap/bed time, but I want to take it away completely maybe in a few months...you'll have to post how it's going.

Good luck my kids would never take binkis so I need advice on how to get a baby to take a binki!!I do know that whenever I did any drastic change I would do it slowly and Bree and Sophie would never notice.

Yeah, Cass luckily never had this problem. I'm not a very good stickler, so I'm sure Cass would have had a binki until he was 40! Good luck!

Rachelle - I have loved looking at your blog and would love to be blog freinds so I dont have to feel so sneaky. I am not sure if you will remember me but we went to junior high all the way to Dixie State together. I guess I have also known Dustin since elemantry school. Your little Kohen is a doll! I am private but you can email me at artichokendj@yahoo.com. It would be fun to keep in touch!

I absolutely agree about date night. :) I wish I had some great way to help out with the binki situation, but I don't. :) XOXO

Loved reading some of these comments to say their kids still have theirs... cause so does Ava. I keep it to bed and nap time, just to make it a slower process!! Sorry I have no clue, when you figure it out let me know!!! I have heard there is bad tasting stuff you can out on it or cut it so it doesn't inflate... though ava did this on her own, and still wont give it up!! Good luck!
